No Work To Do (PXE)11/11/2005 2:48:45 PM

Getting "No Work To Do" in Suse Linux after PC is imaged. And ZisWin has
entered the ZISDATA.

Starting from PXE.
The PC is going into a loop.
ZISData is OK.

The ZIMGBDB.LOG shows me that it is only reading the Server Imaging policy.
with a lot of errors.
OPAK-ZIS.OPAKOSLO.OPAKGRUPPEN exist but only as a unknown object in
ConsoleOne (questionmark).

does it have rights to the root?

on the other side this doesn't really matter as pxe thinks that your wks
doesn't have image save data..

can you confirm with zisview that you have image save data... especially
wks object, treename etc.. and which version of image save data?

Yes ZISDATA is correct.
But the problem first appear after the ZFDAgent (ZISWIN) has written data to
ZISdata (sector6).
And the imaging policy assosiated to the WS is working (if i "Check for
imaging work on next boot".).

But the server imaging policy/PXE is going into a loop.

so it does work... you bring down one image and than it stops working?

This is the prosess of a WS imaging:

10:10 Ziswin. cleared Image safe data on WS.
10:15 imaging WS (OK)
10:19 reboot PC (PXE exit, loading from HD)
10:20-10:22 Sysprep running
10:23 Rebooting PC (PXE exit, loading from HD)
10:23-10:26 Intalling NW client 4.91PS1 and ZFDAgent.
10:26:40 Rebooting PC (PXE exit, loading from HD)
10:27:40-10:31:00 Autologin Deploy user, ZWSREG runs and
WS is imported into correct OU.

10:32:21 Rebooting PC (PXE exit, loading from HD)
10:34:11 Login as User Zisdata, populated with:
Windows SID
Just imaged flag=No
Scripted image flag=Yes
Version=8
Script Checksum=1573899387
Imaging agent is enabled and will run on next boot.

10:39:34 Rebooting PC (PXE exit, loading from HD)
10:40:10 Ziswin runs and populate data to ZisData.
Version=8
Just image Flag=No
Scripted Image Flag=Yes
Script Checksum=1573899387
Workstation Tree=OPAKAS
Workstation Object=CN=WS-CZC5402S3D.OU=Workstations-

workstation Object ID=41245de9e692847c14ad33cd5fb40b44

Uses DHCP=Yes

The imaging agent is enabled and will run during the
next boot of this computer

10:52:55 Rebooting PC (PXE finds out that the PC shuld do imaging
work , Linux loads and )
10:54:10 (Linux loaded. "No Work to do" from Linux)

WS is now looping forever PXE-Linux-"No Work To Do"

_____________________________________________

Booting into WindowsXP.
Ziswin shows:
Version=8
Just image Flag=No
Scripted Image Flag=Yes
Script Checksum=1573899387
Workstation Tree=OPAKAS
Workstation Object=CN=WS-CZC5402S3D.OU=Workstations-
XP.OPAKOSLO.O=OPAKGRUPPEN

Workgroup=NODOMAIN
Windows SID=83886080-21-1056285110-175378768-2567992596
Uses DHCP=Yes
DNS Host Name=WS-CZC5402S3D

The imaging agent is enabled and will run during the
next boot of this computer

Once the ZisData is populated with Workstation Object and Workstation
Object ID, the looping starts.

It seems to me that the PXE boot cannot find the WS in the tree
(cannot read zisdata).

Has this someting to do with the SERVERNAME-ZIS object ?

This object is missing snapin in consoleOne (questionmark object). Or is
not working as it shuld ?

How can i veryfy that this object is working as it shuld ?

Do you need the ZENPXE.LOG and ZIMGDBG.LOG of the prosess described (it
is a litle to big to post in this forum) ?

The ZIMGLOG.XML is not only from the process described.
Thwe other 2 log files are only from the process described.

I have not eny biosassetTag or Serial numer. Same problem appear.

This must have to do with the ZISWIN.EXE.
The problem appears after the ZIWIN has updated the zisdata on the WS.
But i can not se any thing change in ZisData.

When the WS is looping:
The DTS.LOG tells me that it can not find any ZISDATA.

When i log in to WindowsXP and run ZISWIN all the data are pressent.
And correct. (It dosent help to modify it)

When i run ENGL ZISD viewer. It is telling me that thre are no ZIDATA.

When i go into ZISEDIT (Linux) all the ZISDATA are pressent and correct.
(It dosent help to modify it)

This happends after ZISWIN.EXE has collected information from WindowsXP
and put it into ZISDATA. (WS tree/WS obj/WS obj id/NETBIOS
name/Domain/Windows SID).

This only apply for HP DC7600 who are a PC with SATA disk controller.

To me it seems like the problem are caused by ZISWIN.EXE, or that the DTS
cannot find any ZISDATA on the DC7600. This happends only after ZISWIN.EXE
has collected and saved data to ZISDATA.
Any tips ?

Regards Roar Skaare.

I know that in zdm 7 they changed the location of ZISD... it uses the old
sector and a new one..

that's why I asked for the dinic.sys date... was thinking it was perhaps an
old one..

so let me ask..

hmm... which version of the engl tools are you using? you can also use
ziswin itself to show the ZISD...

also we wonder if anything is blocking the sector 6 access... anything
special on those boxes?

The ENG tool is the freeware ActiveX (IE) version.

The ziswin are showing the correct data (se attacment sendt).

The software on the HP DC7600 is the same as the other PC models, who are
working correct.
The sector 6 data are present from DTS until ZISWIN writes data (WS obj,
etc) into sector 6.

ok... could everybody with this problem (or similar) do me a favour and do
the following:

dd if=/dev/hda of=backup.file bs=512 count=63
that will generate backup.file (assuming it's hda we're reading)
hexdump -C can be used to take a look at it

I will need the backup.file... preferable directly uploaded to novell... so
contact me for further instructions..

Seems like this is fixed in the beta-zdm7sp1.

ok... could everybody with this = problem (or similar) do me a favour and do
the following:

dd = if=3D/dev/hda of=3Dbackup.file bs=3D512 count=3D63
that will generate = backup.file (assuming it's hda we're reading)
hexdump -C can be used to = take a look at it

I will need the backup.file... preferable = directly uploaded to novell... so

We are suffering from the same issue of PXE not reading the ZISD
information thus going into a PXE loop.

Does anyone know details of when ZDM SP1 is to be released? I saw May in a
posting somewhere but it's now coming to the end of May with no news yet.

Thanks for any help you can provide

Tim

Quigley@tiscali.co.uk,

SP1 won't be out until "summer", but the fix is in a hotpatch - do you
have a service contract with Novell?

Hi Shaun

We don't have a service contract with Novell. As suggested in many of the
posts, I did contact Novell to get the Hot Patch; they asked me for the
TID number, which I gave them (10100142), but they said there wasn't a Hot
Patch to fix this issue yet.

Is there another TID that covers this? Is there another code I can quote
specifically for this HP.

Admittedly, I did this about a month ago, so perhaps the patch is now
available.

Thanks for all your help

Tim
