I'm having problems with this nic. I tried the bootcd.iso from ZDM7SP1_IR1=
_HP1_Img_Resource_Files. It at least finds the nic and most everything =
works, but at the moment when I try to send the image to a server, the =
machine freezes completely. Any suggestions?

The workstation freezes for a while and eventually comes back with a =
message that it couldn't contact the image server. I have tried a =
multicast session and it never finds the master. I know that connectivity =
is good because I can ping the default gateway and the zen imaging server =
with no problem. I have tried with PXE and bootcd.iso image with the same =
results.

I am also experiencing a problem when trying to image with this nic.
The Realtek 8111B/8111C is the onboard nic for the D945GCNL motherboard
which is in systems we were looking to purchase. If anyone has a
solution on how to get this system to image using a CD and PXE, it
would be greatly appreciated. I am using Netware 6.5 Sp5 and ZenWorks
7 SP1.

bump. Also having the same issue. The NIC is detected fine and
networking / ping works fine. However imaging hangs right away you
make the image. TFTP seems to also be affected and you'll receive an
'Transfer timed out' message.

Intel motherboard DG31PR

i retract that the ping works...i've done some more testing and it seems
like it is not able to gain network access (although it does have a DHCP
address).

i just tried IR1HP2 and same issue as noted above. Both the HP6
preboot we are using and IR1HP2 preboot have both the same r1000 1.05
driver version which accounts for the same problem

Sorry for pounding on this thread.

'Bug 6807 - r8169: freeze at higher speeds'
(http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6807) seems like a good fit
for the problem we're seeing. It looks like this issue occurs when large
amounts of data is transferred which is what is occurring when we're
imaging.

When the problem occurs, I can't ping or connect to the network.

If I do a 'ifconfig eth0 down' and then 'ifconfig eth0 up' network
connectivity comes back and works again.

In fact I went sofar as to fire up imaging, and continually do an
ifconfig eth0 down and up and imaging will continue briefly and stop.
Everytime I restart the nic this way, the imaging will go a little more
and stop.

From what it looks like the fix is a kernel upgrade to 2.6.20 or
greater, so I'm not sure when we'll see a fix for the current preboot

it should than come in one of the next patches.. probably creating a SR
with novell and pointing to that bug could help your case though

In my situation I've found that the gateway address is missing. In
order to get everything up and running I have to do the following:

1 launch img

2. Switch to an alternate console (alt +F2) and down the nic card
(ifconfig etho down)

3. Bring the nic back online (ifconfig eht0 up)

4. Add the default gateway again (ip route add via 10.10.10.1 dev eth0
or route add default gw 10.10.10.10)

5. Switch back to main console (alt+F1) and continue as normally

It is a MAJOR pain to have to do this every time, but so far I've not
found a solution.
