Programmatic Buildtime Import9/28/2006 6:02:58 PM

Is there a way to import FDL into the Buildtime database programmatically through a command line interface such as fmcibie rather than manually through the Buildtime user interface?

We would like to automatically mass update certain Person settings without requiring a user to manually make the changes through the Buildtime tool.

We are on version 3.5

Thanks.

Brian,

you may try the BT import utility to see whether it is sufficient for your
needs.
Run fmcbcimp.exe -? to check the options.

Although it is shipped only for BT migration, it should do what you
need...

Thank you very much Volker.

I hadn't come across the import utility in the documentation.

Guess I didn't look close enough. :)

Brian:

I think you will find the program Volker recommended will do what you need. I have been using these programs (fmcbcimp and fmcbcexp) myself for several years now, and don't recall ever having a single problem. I tend to use the fmcbcexp more than the import, so if you find any issues on import I would appreciate it if you would post them here.

Thanks
