We have MQ Workflow 3.5 running on Windows 2000 server for quite some time. Recently as part of disaster recovery testing, the image of this windows was captured and restored onto another server.

On the new server, all the components are running without any problem. MQ services, workflow services, DB2 all is fine. As expected, the runtime database also was intact, so we could see the old running process instances and work items also intact.

However we observed one strange thing. In the workflow runtime thick client, we can see the process instances, process templates and work item etc.

But when we click on a process instance to monitor the process instance, it throws up a blank window. There are no errors. In the blank window, we can right click and again select monitor activity etc. But nothing is visible.

When we connect to this workflow server from the thick client from another windows server, we are able to monitor the process instance as before.

The behaviour of the thick client with respect to monitoring of the instance may or may not be related to image restoration, since other things are working fine.

Could there be any other reason for this problem.

Cool.
Didn't expect this behaviour.
When you re-install and configure the thick client on your backup server,
does it show the images?

Hi,
We totally un-installed and re-installed workflow components completely on this back up server. But still we have the same problem.

Interesting.

So basically we can summarize your problem as follows (takeover does not
matter):

You are unable to see the graphical representation of a process instance
with Standart Runtime Client.
Environment: Windows 2000 Server, MQWF 3.5.
My best guess is, that your server misses some required WINDOWS software
to display this graphics.
I recommend to contact the Support Team and open a PMR.
Be prepared to provide a full client trace of the failing scenario and of
the client configuration step.
