Hello All,

I've been struggling for the last few days trying to complete the HelloWorld module tutorial from dnnJungle using DNN 3.0.13 and Visual Studio 2002.  I think this would have all been much easier if I had VS2003 (time spent converting project files, solutions files, wizard files, fixing over 300 syntax errors, installing 1.1Framework, uninstalling 1.1Framework, re-installing 1.1Framework, etc.)

Anyway, I'm at the last step of the tutorial which is creating the HelloWorldOptions.ascx page and now I've hit another glitch.  When I try to open the page in designer I get the following error dialog popup:

The file failed to load in the Web Form designer.  Please correct the following error, then load it again:  Property accessor 'TabModuleSettings' on object 'HelloWorldOptions' threw the following exception: 'The type initializer for "DotNetNuke.Data.DataProvider" threw an exception.

Also, since rebuilding my solution, the Text/Html module doesn't work.  I've repeatedly tried deleting the VSCache to no avail.  The only thing that gets it working again is copying the /bin directory from our production install over my local /bin directory (the production install hasn't ever been rebuilt). 

It would be nice at least to know whether this is a VS 2002 issue, a DNN 3.0.13 issue, a dnnJungle wizard issue or what.

Hi Kim,

I Don't believe DNN is .NET 1.0 i.e. VS2002 friendly, it was written and built as you probably know in VS2003 with the 1.1 framework, and although in theory you can simply change evrything to compile in 2002, I do not know of anybody who has actually sucessfully done so, in short it is probably a VS2002 issue and not a dnnjungle or a DNN 3.0.13 issue.
