How to create the patches for the existing modules in DotNetNuke 3.1.1?3/29/2006 6:35:00 AM

Hello Everybody,

I have created a new module in DNN 3.1.1. Now according to the customer's requirement, I need to change the code and the databse structure in my module and need to upload the module once again. I should not delete the existing module as the data in it will be lost.
So I have to create the patch for my module.

Can anybody help me in creating the patches?

You can create a new version of your module by updating your code and recompiling... the key is to make a new "01.01.00.SqlDataProvider" file that has a later version than your original.  This is the file that DNN reads to create your database tables and stored procedures.  In your new "01.01.00.SqlDataProvider" file, just make sure you don't delete any of your customer's existing data when doing your database updates.

When you upload the new zip file containing this new SqlDataProvider file DNN will update your module.
