ISP blocks port 25 - know a Free workaround?8/31/2003 1:13:35 PM

Hi, I do all my own hosting (web, mail, ftp, etc) and just recently my ISP starting blocking port25 (mail). Now I can't send mail from .Net using SMTP (unless I want to pay money which I don't). Does anyone know of any good FREE workarounds.

How about changing the port that your IIS SMTP server listens on? You should be able to specify this new port by using localhost:PortNumber in your server name.

The simplest is the best solution! Thanks! Why didn't I think of that? Now I can send mail out of my http port (except when sending to *@mydomain is now being filtered out). It might be TimeWarner has added me to their spam list?

What is up with these freakin' rules being enforced by the ISPs? The only ones they are affecting are the poor ole induhviduals like me. The businesses making money of spam don't try to save a few bucks by squeeking things through their personal internet connections.
