need help ---- could not load type issues

Hi All,

I'm getting a good old could not load type issue. Have read, reread and googled and have already carried out the following:

checked caps
deleted dll, rebuild and reupload
checked on another machine running same file system, folders etc
deleted virtual directory and re added
restarted web service
restarted machine!
have moved .dll file into every conceivable location!

I have an identical app running in the same space (only change is the class name as I'm trying to build a beta version to muck around on a little) so know that the general configuration is okay.

I'm loathe to re-install .NET as this is a live environment supporting quite a few sites.

Been banging my head for a day now .... anyone got any ideas ... they will be much appreciated!!

are you using vs.net?

if so, check and see if this line is correct:

<%@ Page language="c#" Codebehind="default.aspx.cs" AutoEventWireup="false" Inherits="www.yoursite.com.Contact._default" %>

Don't check it against the line I just wrote( i just wrote that as an example of which line to look for ), but check it against your own and the page you are trying to call. It may be that somewhere, in one of your files, this line is messed up...

Hi Austin,

My line says this:

<%@Page Language="vb" debug="true" inherits="mmsbeta" autoeventwireup="false"%>

and the similar application has:

<%@Page Language="vb" debug="true" inherits="mmslive" autoeventwireup="false"%>
 
1st one doesn't work ... 2nd one does!
 
using vs 2003
