Frontpage Server Extensions 2002 not asking for authentication on Win2003 IIS 6 site?

FPSE 2002 is installed on our Windows 2003 Standard server. I have a website set up in IIS which is configured to use Frontpage Extensions. When you use Frontpage to open the site, it does not ask for authentication as per usual. The same configuration was done on a different server and worked fine. The only difference is I am using an ISA firewall. Active directory users is installed too.

I have deleted the IIS entry, reinstalled Frontpage Server Extensions and have tried every configuration that FPSE allows, but it will not stop anonymous users logging on with Frontpage.

What can I do to get Frontpage to ask for authentication details? Will installing a different version of FPSE help? I can't find any documented bugs like this.

Hmm this is weird indeed. Have you tried to access the FPSE site from within the DMZ (that is, inside the ISA firewall scope) or is the ISA firewall on the same box as the webserver? Of course you can try to install the new release of the FPSE (included with SharePoint Team Services for W2K3 for example) but I'm afraid this won't help... (but you can always give it a try of course).
