Access Is Denied On My Own Machine11/16/2007 6:00:40 PM

0/0

I've created a new ASP.NET web site on my C drive and I can open the home page in Internet Explorer.  But when I click on a link which calls "window.location = C:\Projects\ProjectName\Home.aspx" (the very same page) I get "Access Is Denied".  I think this script is running on the client side.  I think I can fix it by navigating from the server.  But why can't the client-side script navigate to the same folder?

Absolute path is not a trusted location, even if you have user rights to it. Consider what would happen if someone crafted a Web page with references to c:\windows\system32. Every user has rights in system32 for execution. However, it is a bad idea to let random Web page to execute code in system32.

You need to specify proper URL, perhaps relative, within you Web site scope for the reference to work.

Thanks

That was the solution I found, but I didn't understand why.  Thanks for explaining.
