Web Developer 2005 Express freezes on ftp2/11/2005 7:16:27 PM

I can't get the Web Developer 2005 Express to work with a website via FTP. I can open the FTP website, and I can make changes to Default.aspx.

But.. if I attempt to make *any* change in Default.aspx.cs, as like typing in a single character anywhere - everything freezes, then eventually a dialog box comes up saying "Microsoft Visual WD Express Edition Beta has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Why is it that I can make changes to Default.aspx and everything is fine, but if I attempt to do anything to Default.aspx.cs, it crashes? I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled the October update of Studio, but I still got the same problem.

That's an odd problem. I can't reproduce it with the latest internal build. I use FTP locations in my testing daily, both internal and external sites.

Will it crash with every new C# web form, or the same web form each time?

Is the FTP site an intranet site, or an Internet site? Are you behind a firewall? Have you tried opening the FTP connection with the "passive" checkbox checked? Does that make a difference?

Another thing to try would be a VB code separated web form. If that works, then it could be a bug in the C# client build manager. Try it and let me know if a VB web form gives the same crash.
