CrystalTech, DiscountASP, or UltimaHost?4/17/2007 4:51:43 PM

0

Hi all,

I'm having a hard time make a decision on whether to go with CrystalTech (Intermediate ASP.NET 2 plan), or UltimaHosting (Standard plan), or DiscountASP...

I need to run ASP.NET ver. 2, AJAX, MySQL database for now but plan to move to MS SQL 2005 in the future.

 Any recommendation?

Thank you very much,

Kenny.

Kenny - I recommend going with Discountasp.net.  I have used them for years for my ASP.NET clients and highly recommend them and from looking at your requirements, they support all of them.

I am a big fan of both CrystalTech and Discountasp.net, they both can support the features that you are looking for above. Crystaltech has both phone and email support, DASP only has email support, they both have very helpful public forums/ members. I personally have never run into any major issues with either company.

Thank you all. I'm kinda leaning toward CrystalTech since MySQL and SQL is included in the package... With DiscountASP, I have to pay extra $10/month for SQL and $5/month for MySQL.

Kenny

Out of the hosts that you have mentioned, i believe that Ultima is the best choice by far.

They have amazing plans with superb support.  Their standard plans have both SQL 2005 and MySQL includeded.

Cheers

Hugh

I have to second the vote here for Discountasp.net. Great support and forums area.

You do have to pay for the SQL, but that's something I'm willing to pay for if it also means I get good SQL support from their staff with it.

Talk to the team at Ultima as there are a few specials going on at the moment. They are also ready to introduce free developer hosting as an addon to every plan.

I use DiscountASP.NET and while they are the best host I have ever been with, I've come across the need to host multiple sites and discountasp.net gets expensive when you're trying to do that.

I tried using Netfirms recently. Probably the worst company out there for ASP.NET hosting.

The key is to do good research before signing up for a hosting company. Also, now you have more options available apart from crystaltech, discountasp and ultimahosts. You can checkout reliablesite.net, softsyshosting.com, appliedi.net, etc.

Thanks,

So, what host did you go for xuanvu and are they good?

As a subscriber to UltimaHosts I can say they are a good host with good support and some of the best features per cost out there for .net.
