NetCrunch Alerts with Novell Clusters8/4/2008 8:46:02 AM

Hi,

One of our customers is using NetCrunch to monitor the network. They
recently migrated to the latest version.

When monitoring, NetCrunch sends a lot of warnings about the Novell
Clusters. There is nothinh wrong with the cluster, but NetCrunch
somehow misses pings on some resources every now and then.

Event
Type: Network Service Availability Threshold
Severity: Warning
State: operational
Description: Connection Reliability Degradation
Parameters
NetworkService.Counter: PING\% Failure Rate
NetworkService.Kind: over
NetworkService.Status: raised
NetworkService.Threshold: 35
NetworkService.value: 36

The false alerts reduce the credibility of the program.
Does someone know how to prevent this?

Kind regards,

Arjan

Depends, are the pings really missing or is NetCrunch giving false
negatives? If the latter there's nothing we can do for you, you'd need
to contact them.

If it's using simple pings and they're getting lost, you can some
serious network fault. We'll need quite some data on your setup etc to
diagnose further.
